Surge is a teen Rock Band that has been playing together for 5 years and they enjoy making big sound as a power trio. Inspired by the hard hitting rock of the 70s-90s, they seek to reawaken the spirit of rock in the modern music culture and bring it back into popularity. They are influenced by Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Tool, etc… Austin, Ryan and Julian (ages 16-18) are actively writing and recording original music. Their blend of hard and progressive rock has earned them several trophies at various Battle-of-the-Bands competitions across the L.A. area, while gigging regularly at festivals, fundraisers and clubs.
Meet the Band! When they aren’t writing and playing music, you might find them:
- Austin Bourdages (18, Lead Guitar/Vocals): is in a 4-year Cinema Arts Focus Program at his High School. He creates, produces and directs films. He has played baseball since age 7, and is on the HS Varsity Team as the catcher. He is very proficient on the slackline too!
- Ryan Deack (16, Drums): is attending CS Arts in Duarte and is in the Jazz Band there. He has been playing drums since age 5, and has been a student of Neil Peart (Rush) since then. He even met his hero, Neil, when he was 8. He has been to more concerts than he can count.
- Julian Bailey (17, Bass Guitar): is in his High School’s Jazz Band too. He has a dad and brother who are drummers, so music is definitely in the family. He is no slouch; he’s on the Water Polo Team, and often takes 60 mile bike rides at midnight.
