Anguish and Action
In a racist society, it is not enough to be non-racist, we must be anti-racist.
Angela Y. Davis
HermosaOne stands in solidarity with Black lives as we reflect, mourn, listen, and learn how we can act against racism.
Like you, Russ and I are furious, sad, and frustrated. The murder of George Floyd #sayhisname, and countless similar deaths and actions, are something we cannot forget or forgive.
Over 1,000 people are killed by police every year in America, and Black people are three times more likely to be killed than White people.
These murders aren’t happening in Hermosa, gratefully, but America is only as strong as its weakest link and racism lives in many forms. It takes energy, engagement, and support from communities like ours to make a difference and push change. Together, with our strong leaders, demonstrative local police, and a caring community, we can do our part to end systemic racism.
Although HermosaOne is brand new, we pride ourselves on being a resource for Hermosans… in all matters of life and community. So with that, we’d like to share some resources to help find ways you can learn, love, and demonstrate support.

Local Free Graphics
The graphics below were created to be used as stencils to decorate the boarded up businesses in town on request. Melary Burry (the designer), Hanni Bavaria, and Juergen Schmieder created this project and have been helping bring them to life. They are now providing these graphics to any locals who want to use them to print their own or create whatever they want. Enjoy!
